Summer Course: Stars and Planets in a Habitable Universe

Πώς σχηματίζονται τα αστέρια από το αέριο των γαλαξιών; Πώς εξελίσσονται τα αστέρια και οι γαλαξίες και πώς μπορούν αυτές οι διαδικασίες να δημιουργήσουν πλανήτες και τις κατάλληλες συνθήκες για ζωή; Πώς συλλέγουμε και αποκρυπτογραφούμε πληροφορίες για το Σύμπαν από τη μικρή μας γωνιά του σύμπαντος;

Αυτό το μάθημα καλύπτει το ηλιακό σύστημα και τις ουράνιες κινήσεις, τον κύκλο ζωής των άστρων, τη δομή του Γαλαξία μας και την ανακάλυψη εξωπλανητών: πλανήτες που περιφέρονται γύρω από αστέρια πέρα από τον Ήλιο μας. Το υλικό που προορίζεται να είναι προσβάσιμο σε μη επιστημονικές ειδικότητες, διερευνάται ποσοτικά με σύνολα προβλημάτων χρησιμοποιώντας βασική άλγεβρα και αριθμητικές εκτιμήσεις. Η παρατήρηση του ουρανού και οι εκδρομές στο παρατηρητήριο συμπληρώνουν το μάθημα.
