This structured two-year programme offers you the opportunity to learn about the universe and apply your knowledge of physics in a vibrant and fast-developing area of science. The first semester is spent on core astronomy courses, including stellar structure and evolution and galactic dynamics. In the second semester, you will begin work on a 60 ECTS degree project under the supervision of internationally well-regarded professors, and this project continues over three semesters. You will also take four more courses broadening your knowledge of the most exciting areas of modern astrophysics, such as exoplanets and the early universe.

The purpose of the Master’s programme in Mathematics is to give students advanced theoretical knowledge of mathematics together with practical skills to apply this knowledge both to mathematical problems and in applications of mathematics. A highly flexible structure that allows for individual adaptation, a diversified curriculum, a high theoretical level and an active research-oriented environment are some of the strongest features of the programme. The programme has two specialisations: Mathematics and Numerical Analysis. A vast variety of courses in all mathematical disciplines – pure and applied mathematics, numerical analysis and mathematical statistics – are available within the programme.

Our goal is to give students leading competences in biomedical research so that they are well prepared for independent work in medical research and development. The programme leads to a Master of Medical Science, with a major in Biomedicine. Teaching takes place in a research environment at the Biomedical Research Centre in Lund and all teachers are also active researchers.

Geomatics involves the acquisition, management and analysis of phenomena with a spatial reference. The spatial analysis finds applications in many areas, such as health, environment management, natural resources assessment, urban planning, geology, archaeology and agronomy. This programme aims to provide you with knowledge in spatial analysis focusing mainly on environmental applications. Models and theories for understanding the Earth’s climate and ecosystems are integrated with knowledge for collecting environmental information using remote sensing, storing the information in databases and theories behind Geographical Information Systems (GIS).

Το μεταπτυχιακό πρόγραμμα στην Κοινωνιολογία προετοιμάζει τους μαθητές για διδακτορικές σπουδές στην κοινωνιολογία καθώς και για προχωρημένη επαγγελματική εργασία σε κοινωνιολογικές έρευνες και κοινοτικό σχεδιασμό. Το πρόγραμμα επιτρέπει στους μαθητές σημαντική ελευθερία να επιλέγουν μαθήματα ανάλογα με το ενδιαφέρον και τις μελλοντικές ανάγκες. Το πρόγραμμα επιτρέπει στους μαθητές να αναπτύξουν κριτική σκέψη, αναλυτικές δεξιότητες και την ικανότητα να διεξάγουν κοινωνική ανάλυση, καθώς και να αποκτήσουν εξειδικευμένες γνώσεις κοινωνιολογίας. With new challenges for architecture such as denser cities, increased globalisation, climate adaptation and the rapid evolution of technology, the need for skilled architects who understand these challenges is growing. This programme combines independent, design-led studios with theoretical and practical courses where students learn to find future-focused solutions to real-world issues in order to produce skilled graduates that can compete on a global level. Students can choose from two specialisations: Advanced Architectural Design or Spatial Experiment (Architecture and Digital Process).

This extremely intensive, one-year, full-time programme prepares recent non-business graduates for a wide range of careers in management. You will learn to apply the skills you acquire in a range of areas including marketing, strategic management, business consultancy and organisational development. You will refine and build upon your communication, teamwork and presentation skills through individual and group work, and develop your professional skills in decision-making, problem-solving, analysis and critical reflection. During the studies, you are continuously encouraged to reflect, apply and relate new knowledge to future career ambitions. Some key elements of the programme are the base team; the learning journal; the learning tutorial; career coaching; shadowing a manager; the organisation project; the business game.

Enormous amounts of biological data are generated in medicine, biochemistry and biology. This creates a high demand for talented, experienced graduates from biology, statistics and computer science with knowledge in bioinformatics. In the Master’s programme in Bioinformatics at Lund University, students with different educational backgrounds come together and learn the tools to analyse biological data using computational methods. Biotechnology is a key enabling technology that impacts various sectors, such as healthcare and pharmaceuticals, agriculture, food and feed, environmental remediation, as well as the production of chemicals and biofuels. In this programme, students learn about the scientific and technological aspects of biotechnology processes, biocatalysts (enzymes and micro-organisms), gene technology, analytical tools, product recovery and process design. The graduates will acquire broad knowledge and skills for the development of efficient biocatalysts, sustainable bioprocesses for product manufacturing, wastewater treatment, and tools for analyses and medicine. The staff comprises well-established scientists with strong research and industrial networks, giving students good job prospects both locally and internationally.
